Here's page two of the "Chelsea's Party" story arc. I do apologize for the delay in getting this online, but I went a little crazy with the establishing panel on this one. That’s an actual overhead view of my old neighborhood, and the coolest part is that I drew it entirely from memory. After finishing the sketch I loaded up Google Earth and checked my accuracy. Why can’t I have a photographic memory with every aspect of my life?

One interesting bit about this, though, and related to the shot of my neighborhood: the character of Chelsea is based on a girl (whose name I will not reveal) that lived across the street from me, whom for years was my primary antagonist and instigator of all the problems I had with the other kids. The house that you see them running to in the first panel (with the van in the driveway) is the house where she lived. Her family has since moved out, but that was after I had already moved out on my own… so she was always there throughout all 15 years I lived in that house. Again I’ll point out that if anyone knew where to look, they could actually revisit any of these areas on their own.

So yes, getting back to the comic itself… Comics seem to write themselves after awhile, and sometimes you start to see characters developing connections that weren’t originally planned. I’m starting to like the idea of Peter and Norton actually being kinda buddy-buddy. This is now the second time they’ve interacted directly like this in the strips.

I’m also toying with the idea of doing these comics in full color. I’ll probably do it on special occasions for certain comics, but not every time; I really like the three-tone grayscale look that I’ve established so far. I dunno, just something to think about.

That is a great opener. The perspective is spot on and it really sets a nice mood for the story.

Thanks dude! I really surprised myself with how well I could remember it. It's kinda tough to get photo reference from that height (and Google Earth is extremely blurry). I did mess up a few things, but the only person who could catch them was my brother. hehe

Hehe! Interesting how the worms thrive on chaos, and yet perform like a well-trained squadron. THERE'S A METHOD TO THEIR MADNESS!
